Embracing the Weird: Confessions of a Modern-Day Medium
Being a medium in the modern world can be an incredibly challenging experience. On one hand, you have the ability to connect with the spirit world and help people heal and find closure. On the other hand, you're constantly at risk of being labelled as a fraud or an outcast by society. It's a balancing act that requires a great deal of patience, resilience, and humour.
As someone who has been a medium for several years now, I can attest to the many trials and tribulations that come with the territory. It can be tough to navigate the waters of skepticism, disbelief, and even outright hostility from those who don't understand or believe in your abilities. But through it all, I've managed to stay sane and keep my sense of humor intact. Here are a few stories from my experiences as a medium in the modern world.
First off, there's the issue of explaining what I do to people who have no idea what a medium is. Most people assume that I'm either a psychic or a fortune teller, and I have to explain that being a medium means that I have the ability to connect with spirits who have crossed over. This usually leads to a lot of questions and skepticism, but I try to keep things light and approachable.
One time, I was at a party and someone asked me what I did for a living. When I told them that I was a medium, they looked at me like I had three heads. "You mean, like, a ghost whisperer?" they asked. "Sort of," I replied with a laugh. "I connect with spirits and help people find closure and healing." They nodded politely, but I could tell they didn't really believe me.
Another challenge of being a medium is dealing with people who are convinced that you're a fraud. I've had my fair share of skeptics who are determined to prove that I'm just making things up. Sometimes they'll ask me to connect with a spirit and give them a specific message, and if I can't do it, they'll accuse me of being a fake. It can be frustrating and disheartening, but I've learned not to take it personally.
During one of my readings with a client, I faced a significant challenge as they were highly skeptical. They constantly rejected any validation whenever I conveyed a message from their departed loved one in the spirit world. However, I persisted and patiently explained the message again until they reluctantly admitted its accuracy. Despite the difficulty, I respected the intentions of their loved one and ensured the client received the intended experience, whether they believed in it or not.
While being a medium can have its serious and somber moments, there are also plenty of lighthearted moments that make me appreciate what I do even more. I try to bring my sense of humor into every reading, and I can't recall a single one where I haven't laughed at least once. As someone who enjoys making jokes, I find that even the spirits have a sense of humor, as they often bring through a joke to lighten the mood after a heavy emotional moment. It's truly amazing how they can bring laughter and joy even in the midst of grief and sadness.
It's truly a unique and special experience to be surrounded by spirits who can make you laugh and cry all at the same time. It's a testament to the power of love that even in death, our loved ones can continue to bring us joy and comfort. For me, it's a reminder that love is the most powerful force in the universe, and it transcends even death. It's a belief that brings me comfort and peace, and I choose to hold onto it with all my heart.
With love,
